Born in Hong Kong, Chang received his musical training at Oberlin and Peabody Conservatories, and he completed his graduate studies at Towson University in 2010. He teaches piano at McDonogh School in Owings Mills, Maryland, in addition to having the fortune and honor to have served as CBC’s music director since 2008.
In addition to teaching and performing as a pianist, Chang is also a bassoonist, composer, and arranger. He worked many years in San Francisco as dance accompanist, improvising for ballet and modern dance, and he has recorded a large volume of original music for dance works.
His main love has always been the collaborative process of creating and making music together, and feels truly blessed each week to be able to do that with the wonderfully talented, loving, and fun group of people at CBC.
