We’ll hold our Annual Blue Christmas Service of Grief on Wednesday, December 13th at 7pm. If you or anyone you know for whom Christmas brings memories of sadness and loss, please join us and invite them to attend.
Beer & Carols
Beer & Carols…. We will gather at 6pm Sunday, December 2nd at the New District Brewing Company (2709 S. Oakland Street, Arlington, VA 22206~it looks like an industrial area) to sing some good, old-fashioned Christmas hymns together. We’re looking on arranging for family friendly food and beverages – so plan on bringing your family, and some friends!
Civil Dialogue Training
The Religious Freedom Center at the Newseum will hold a workshop on December 8th from 9am – 3pm. Want to learn how to lead workshops in Civil Dialogue? The workshop is free. Visit religiousfreedomcenter.org/events/ to learn more or to register. Registration Deadline is November 30th.
Annual Toy Drive
Once again, we are partnering with Volunteer Alexandria and the City of Alexandria Department of Community and Human Services to collect new, unwrapped toys for children aged 0-12 years. We will place them in the bin near the stage during our worship services. The last day of our collection will be Sunday, December 9th.
Transgender Day of Remembrance
The 10th Annual Northern Virginia Interfaith Transgender Day of Remembrance Service will be held Tuesday, November 20th from 7-9pm at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fairfax (2709 Hunter Mill Road, Oakton Virginia) will host this interfaith service to memorialize those who have been killed over the previous year as a result of transphobia, or the hatred or fear of transgender and gender non-conforming people. Daylight Savings Time 2018 ends on Sunday, Nov. 4 @ 2a.m. local time. Be sure to set your clocks and watches back (if they don’t do it themselves)…so that we can see you on time at church.
November 10 Alive Fundraiser
Our ministry partner, ALIVE!, is holding their 4th annual Empty Bowls Fundraiser on Saturday, November 10th at the Durant Center in Old Town. November 8th. “I’m Still Here”
