What to Expect

Visiting a new church for the first time can be a little scary. We’ve all been there, and so we consider it OUR job to make you feel as welcome as possible.

Below we answer some common questions so you know what to expect.

What does it mean that CBC is welcoming and affirming?

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Ut elit tellus, luctus nec ullamcorper mattis, pulvinar dapibus leo.

What do Baptists believe?

Every Baptist church is different. At Commonwealth Baptist Church, we strive to love God and other people with every fiber of our being. Learn more about who we are and what we believe (hyperlink).

What should I expect on my first visit?

Worship is from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Sunday mornings. There is a parking lot in the rear of the church off of E. Chapman Street, and free street parking nearby. The sanctuary is upstairs and greeters will welcome you. We invite you to join us downstairs after service for snacks and fellowship!

Do I need to get dressed up?

Nope! What’s important is that you feel comfortable joining in praise and worship, not what you’re wearing. Some of us wear suits and dresses, others wear shorts and flip-flops. It’s up to you!

Do I have to give money?

No. Those who want to give can do so through PayPal and Cashapp (include links). We also have an offering plate near the organside door where you can place an offering, as well. You should, however, feel no obligation to give unless you wish to. It’s far more important to us that you feel welcome.

What about the kids?

No matter what your family looks like, you are welcome at CBC. We provide safe, professional, and caring nursery care for ages birth to five. Older children are invited to join and participate in our worship service. Learn more about children in worship (hyperlink to anchor on Worship page).

What is worship like? What if I don’t know what to do?

First of all, don’t worry: Our worship service is very relaxed and informal. Click here to learn more about our worship style (hyperlink to anchor on Worship page).
